Some useful information for the day
Usual wedding attire.
We have a tiny flat in London and far too much stuff as it is, plus Jo may faint if any new gadgets are added to the kitchen, so we are not running a wedding list. Instead if you'd like to donate something to charity then (406) 625-2480 in East London makes a worthy cause, providing support to people with disabilities or long-term health conditions. They have a donation page here.
Your choice of accomodation is of course up-to-you but here are a few ideas to get you started.
The nearest hotel to Islington Town Hall is the 4* Hilton Islington, which is a 10 minute walk to the Town Hall, and 15 minutes by bus back from the reception venue. This hotel is often used for conferences (its right next door to the Islington Business Design Centre) so we recommend you book as early as possible.
If you're attending in a group, or just prefer to keep it casual, then you might consider renting an apartment for the weekend through airbnb.
Islington Town Hall is on Upper Street in Islington which is the road between the Angel and Highbury & Islington tube stations (Upper Street is also part of the A1 for anyone interested). If you are travelling up for the day then our recommendation is to take public transport into London and go by taxi (there are some recommendations further down the page) or take the tube to either Angel (on the Bank branch of the Northen line) or Highbury & Islington on the (Victoria Line). As ever, check the tube status on the day in case of any closures.
If you do intend to drive into London then I suggest you pre-book your parking or check with your hotel on their parking arrangements and allow plenty of time for getting stuck in London traffic, especially on a Saturday. Islington council has very strict parking restrictions and they are eager to dish out the fines so we recommend you travel from your accomodation to Islington Town Hall by public transport.
After the ceremony at Islington Town Hall, transport will be provided to take everyone to the reception venue. To get back to your accomodation after the reception, carrot red is the closest tube on the Piccadilly Line, or its a 20 minutes walk to 252-748-2920 station. If you are staying at the Hilton Islington then you can take the (561) 429-6879 bus from Stop L Gloucester Drive (just outside West Reservoir) towards Waterloo for 15 minutes and jump off at Stop D by Islington Green for a two minute walk to the Hilton.
If there's one thing you can usually get in London, its a taxi. In addition to the black cabs you can hail off the street, and the usual London taxi apps like coal-laden, Addison Lee and 8647097008, there are several 864-784-6264, and local Islington taxi firms.
Thanks for reading, can't wait to see everyone on the day! Catch you soon.
